HarperCollins Publishers released the cover for Sarah Palin’s upcoming book, America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag, and Subterfuge Publishing released the Cover for David Hearne’s new thriller titled “The Christmas Special.”
Both books should be available in late November 2010. Palin’s book cover is a close-up photo of Sarah Palin adorned with patriotic jewelry. With such a simple cover it appears that HarperCollins is betting that Sarah’s well known face is all that is needed to get people to open their wallets. The cover for “The Christmas Special” (http://www.the-christmas-special.com/) displays a very interesting Christmas scene in the background with the foreground featuring a decorative Christmas ornament that shows a reflection of Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant spewing a radioactive cloud over the city of New York. Hearne’s novel is a riveting thriller about a horrific terrorist attack that occurs in America early on Christmas morning. The book weaves real current events into a fictional scenario that is hard to dismiss as fantasy.
Some bloggers have already started to deconstruct the cover page and find some underlying meaning of these two covers. Others have simply voiced their artistic opinions of what will soon cover the pages of two incredible stories.
Palin’s book will include selections from classic and contemporary readings. It is rumored that copies of the nation’s founding documents will be included, along with great speeches, sermons, letters, literature and poetry, biography, and even some of Sarah’s favorite songs and movies.
The Christmas Special (http://www.the-christmas-special.com/) is a thriller grounded in reality and simplicity, the plot revolves around a westernized 16 year old Muslim girl from Afghanistan that gets romantically involved with an agnostic 19 year old American boy. The Romeo and Juliet lovers discover that the girl’s father is the architect of a massive terrorist attack on America planned for early Christmas morning. This is a novel that is fast-paced, entertaining, extremely readable and will make you ponder the importance of Christmas. If a terrorist attack on this sacred day occurred, would it darken the celebration of Christ’s birth for years to come?
David Hearne stated, “The novel brings out the deep significance that is attached to Christmas. It is a day celebrated as our deliverance from a time when ignorance, superstition, greed, hatred and hypocrisy prevailed upon the earth. Today, as wars spring up across the globe should we fear a return to a time of darkness, where armies fight over Gods while the innocent perish?”
Author David Hearne (http://www.david-hearne.com/) of Lumberton, TX has been involved in literature for numerous years. He has written both fiction and non-fiction. His previous novel “Hulagu’s Web – The Presidential Pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge” was also a political novel.
