Alejandra Hines is the woman behind AlejandraInDesign exquisite and impeccable jewelry. Born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, Alejandra has been in the United States for 35 years and has been designing since 2004.
Alejandra’s first calling was raising her 3 sons and providing the nurturing her family needed. Once everyone had grown up, Alejandra decided to follow her next calling…designing jewelry.
She felt designing jewelry brought her back to life. Her jewelry is made from authentic cultured pearls, south sea pearls and various semi-precious stones. No pearl is the same which is why they are absolutely stunning and magnifique. AlejandraIn Design’s showroom is based in Bedford, New York and they and they are working on in store development.
AlejandraInDesign had the great opportunity of gracing Couture Fashion Week with their fabulous pieces. These were worn by the models of Andres Aquino, a designer presenting his work. When asked how she got together with Andres, Alejandra stated it started with the Fashion Week Winter Collection. Someone saw her pieces and approached her about working with him. It took about 7 months, but Andres was very interested and wanted to meet with her. He asked if she could do Couture Fashion Week and she happily accepted the invitation. Alejandra admits that although it was a challenge because of his intricate designs and him being very spontaneous, she was also able to adapt to the simple and complex situations and went with the flow of things.
I asked Alejandra how if felt to have her pieces shown at NYC Couture Fashion Week and she was absolutely honored to have been given the chance to showcase her work at that venue. Her jewelry is very versatile and can be worn with everything from couture wear to everyday wear. Alejandra admits, “I love showing the beauty in each pearl since they are living art. When you wear one of our pieces, it makes you MORE alive. Everyday is a special occasion because you are alive so why not incorporate one of AlejandraInDesigns pieces into your life.”
Alejandra would love to thank her late Mom for being her inspiration. She also gives praise to the Creator for providing her with the strength necessary to see her through each day. She realizes that she is very blessed and is grateful for having been given the gift to bring her dreams to life in her creations.
