NY, NY, United States (AHN Sports) – Do you like the Geico gecko and those cavemen?

NHL fans should expect to see more of both during television broadcasts.

The car insurance company is still the “Official Automobile Insurance Partner of the NHL” according to a press release issued Monday.

To celebrate, a pair of new GEICO hockey-themed ads will reportedly air during the 2012 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on NBC on Jan. 2.

“The ads will highlight some notorious hockey rivalries and will commemorate the 75th anniversary of GEICO by looking back at some historical hockey moments,” a press release announcing the move read in part.

Geico will also take part in a three-day fan festival leading into the event before the Flyers and Rangers face off.

“It’s exciting to have Geico continue their partnership with the NHL for many years to come” said Keith Wachtel, senior vice president of integrated sales at the NHL in a press release. “Geico’s commitment to activate against the sport of hockey across the League, broadcast rights holders and our member clubs is a great way to reach our avid and passionate fan base.”
