Georges Chakra: Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture A/W 2009/10 - ArrivalsFluidity and chic glamour are the key words when describing the exquisite new line from the latest Georges Chakra collection. This season, silhouettes are longer, with form fitting designs that sensually hug the body in all the right places. Inspired by the flirtatious fashion of the 1920s, the original styles revisit that time period, with the added twist of Georges Chakra’s signature style.

As with every design featuring the renowned Georges Chakra label, each creation consists of complex workmanship and challenging contrasts. Sparkling jewels adorn the shoulders with sleeves that are either covered in beads or feathers. Dizzying asymmetric-cuts accentuate the beauty of the bare back to make up part of the ‘angel wings’ design, as plunging V-necks highlight immaculate skin. Playful sequins dance among fine embroidery as if caught in a net. Daring lace straps crisscross the body with luminous gemstones that extend like an intricate spider web and sleeves rise up in a whirlwind, radiating bursts of rhinestones. For a touch of mystery, smooth skin is seductively revealed through skillfully placed cutouts.

As with the infusion of different textures so too are colors flawlessly intermingled. Blacks shimmer like midnight blue, intense blues merge with teal, burgundy transforms into exuberant red, overlays of khaki and gold glimmer like bronze and grays seamlessly mix with metallic silver. Gowns feature iridescent sequins and velvets enhanced with glittering gemstones. Swaths of black mix with nudes, while multi-colored sequins continuously transform the color of flowing taffetas and a haze of feathers caress the skin.

Characterized by masterful contradictions, the Winter 2009-2010 collection from Georges Chakra is at once unique, spellbinding and, above all, breathtaking.
