The Atlanta Dream came out hot but it was only a matter of minutes before they got cold. The Atlanta Dream went from giving the Phoenix Mercury a run for their money in the 1st quarter to just giving it away in the 2nd quarter.

The 2nd quarter was a complete disaster. Several factors were attributable to performance. The Dream lacked defense. They turned over the ball nine times, and shot 13.3% from the field. To top it off, one of the League’s top scorers, Betty Lennox, who was 4-5 from the field did not land another basket until 3 minutes before halftime when she hit two free throws.

Once again the team regrouped during halftime and realized in order to win, they would actually have to play. Newcomer Kasha Terry really showed her stuff. From blocking shots to pulling her weight at the foul line she finished with a career high of 15 points. Jennifer Lacy also gave the attendees something to cheer about. In all she scored 16 points, in which nine came from the 3rd quarter. However their personal achievements were not enough to get the Dream in the win column. They lost their energy again in the 4th quarter, losing to the Mercury 97-79.

The Dream has proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with, however they can not seem to get the appropriate team chemistry. When they had good ball rotation, their shooting was off. When their defense is solid, their offense is weak. When asked what will it take for this potentially great young team to finally get a win, Coach Meadors replied “they have to be consistent… consistency is the number one thing…” From game to game it is evident their lack of consistency is their greatest downfall. Out of the four quarters, two are genuine basketball games and the other two are usually battles to catch up.

Atlanta based performer Tip "T.I." Harris spoke to the youth about the importance of education immediately following the end of the game. The packed crowd proved he is still idolized. Along with their love for basketball, it’s positive experiences like these that keep the Dream fans coming back for more.
