Michael John Avenatti is an American lawyer. He has been a law professor and has spent his career representing individuals in cases of personal injury, major commercial fraud, and class actions. Avenatti was the co-lead attorney in the lawsuit that resulted in actor Patrick Dempsey being awarded over $20 million for the use of his image in commercials for the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Avenatti also represented Janice Dickinson in her defamation suit against Bill Cosby for allegations he made about her; the case ended with a settlement on November 8, 2017.
