Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum has extended social distancing measures in the Republic of Korea (South Korea). South Korea reported 2,052 new Covid-19 cases to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The Country has vaccinated a little more than 48% of its citizens.

Authorities are implementing an extended restriction for restaurants and cafes in the metropolitan area as a response to COVID-19. During this time, they will be required to close their doors at 9 p.m., back down from 10 pm previously until September 5th.

The mortality rate has always been low but recently, the number of severe and critical cases have increased.

The death rate in this region is usually around 0.94% with severe cases affecting 385 people.
