People are missing or dead throughout the region. Authorities urge citizens to stay in their homes where possible. Many describe the scenes in both areas as apocalyptic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the waters recede, many cars and personal property where emerged under several feet of water. Several residents report this as the first time something like this has happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some people were idle on the subway near Times Square in the early morning after traveling from Queens&#8217;s US Open tennis tournament.
