In Bergen County, a school district has suspended a teacher who is accused of telling an Arab American Muslim high school student that “we do not negotiate with terrorists” when he asked about his homework.

Mohammed Zubi, a student at Ridgefield Memorial High School, told WABC-TV that he asked a teacher if he could complete an assignment at home.

“[The teacher] responded saying, ‘we don’t negotiate with terrorists,’ so I look around in shock, there’s people laughing, and there’s other people in shock, and I turn around and ask my friend, ‘did he really just say that?’ and she said yes,” Zubi told the television station.
