A condominium collapsed just after 2am Eastern Time near Miami in Surfside, Florida. The 12 story building collapsed while residents were asleep. At least one person is dead. Miami-Dade first responders evacuated residents. The cause is unknown. There was construction on the roof. Mayor Charles W. Burkett gave an early statement to the Media just before 8am ET.
